Abstract. At the current stage, civic and patriotic education of young people is a state task, which is confirmed by a number of state documents. Today’s student youth is a digital generation, whose socialization takes place in the context of global digitalization. The social infantilism inherent in modern youth is particularly detrimental for teachers of additional education, whose activities are characterized by a high degree of social responsibility. Only a teacher with an active civic position, based on a well-developed system of civic and patriotic qualities, can become a transmitter of civic values for children and young people. The task of civic and patriotic education of future teachers of additional education is to form the civic and patriotic qualities of students. Civil-patriotic qualities are an integrative personal formation represented by a set of cognitive, value-motivational, and reflexive-activity components, formed on the basis of universal human values, and also serving as the basis for the citizenship of a future teacher of additional education. The cognitive component of the concept under consideration involves expanding and enriching the existing system of civic knowledge based on the developed critical thinking, which allows for understanding, analyzing, comparing, generalizing, and evaluating complex socio-political phenomena occurring in the region, Russia, and the world. The value-motivational component includes values, with spiritual and moral values being primary, and motives: socially significant, professional-pedagogical, and personal. The reflexive-activity component is a set of practical skills and abilities of future teachers of additional education, which are implemented in various types of activity: research, project, and socially significant professional. A set of key civic and patriotic personality qualities has been identified: patriotism, civic self-awareness, civic responsibility, civic duty, civic courage, and civic activity. Patriotism is the most significant value of an individual, the key civic and patriotic quality of a future teacher of additional education.
Keywords: future teacher of additional education, civic and patriotic education, civic and patriotic qualities, cognitive component, value-motivational component, and reflective-activity component.
