Abstract. The educational process in today’s reality differs significantly from the academic activity that was popular some 20 years ago. New forms of interaction between participants in the teaching process, digital content, distance learning technologies, modern university teaching methods, accessibility, and blended learning all require attention, study, and transformation of material, as well as a restructuring of the standard lesson process in a modern context. Furthermore, additional efforts are required on the part of academic participants. In this regard, motivation is one of the determining factors of a high-quality educational process. The motivational component of the academic process is the most important factor in the success of educational activities. Interest in learning, acquiring new knowledge, and mastering various competencies allows students to achieve high academic results within a relatively short period of time. The task of educators in this context is to develop and support students’ motivation to learn, develop, and achieve goals. However, one must not forget about the transformations in society, the accelerating pace of life, and the desire of young people to have everything at once. To achieve high-quality results, these trends should not be ignored. On the contrary, they must be taken into account when engaging students in academic activities. This is achieved through projects, gamification, new learning models, effective pedagogical techniques, as well as apps and artificial intelligence to achieve optimal learning outcomes. The relevance of this study lies in the need to develop new forms and means of motivating modern university students to engage in academic activities. The subject of this study is student academic motivation in the modern university environment. The scientific novelty of this work lies in the set of recommendations for the effective development and qualitative improvement of student academic motivation at a university. The practical significance lies in the potential use of the proposed recommendations for developing and enhancing the motivation of modern university students.
