Abstract. The article examines the problem of forming students’ communicative competence in higher education as an integrative quality of personality that ensures the success of academic and professional interaction. The relevance of the study is due to the digital transformation of the educational environment, the increasing role of intercultural communication in professional activities and the need to revise traditional approaches to teaching communicative cycle disciplines. The purpose of the work is to theoretically substantiate and present practical aspects of the formation of students’ communicative competence in the context of interdisciplinary integration of the disciplines «Russian Language and Speech Culture» and «Intercultural Communications in Advertising and PR». The methodological basis of the study comprises the competence-based approach, the theory of intercultural communication and the principles of contextual learning. The empirical base includes the results of diagnostics of speech tactics in academic interaction (n = 40 students), analysis of curricula and description of methodological techniques. The results of the study showed that the formation of communicative competence requires the integration of normative, rhetorical and intercultural components. Problem areas in the speech behavior of students and teachers (dominance of the «black opponent» tactic) have been identified, and ways to correct them have been proposed. The practical significance lies in the development of methodological recommendations for the use of interactive forms (problem lecture, provocative lecture, business game, case analysis, cross-cultural analysis of the country) for the formation of communicative competence. The conclusion is made about the need to move from a narrowly understood speech culture to broad intercultural communicative competence as the basis for professional training in a modern university.
