Abstract. In an era of striving for technological sovereignty, the effectiveness of collaboration between education and business becomes the main factor in the competitiveness of the national economy. The article is devoted to analyzing the problem of the persistent gap between the academic training of graduates and the rapidly growing demands of employers, and to finding effective ways to solve it. An analysis of statistical data over the past five years indicates that, despite the increase in the number of graduates in the fields of engineering and technology, a significant proportion of them do not find employment in their professional sphere. Current forms of interaction between business and education aimed at training a professional technological elite are analyzed. It is shown how joint educational programs of major corporations, such as Sber, allow for the integration of fundamental knowledge with applied skills demanded in the digital economy. Special attention is paid to the institution of internships, where the example of the Molecular Electronics Research Institute (MERI) illustrates the possibility of a seamless transition for a student from theory to practice under the guidance of mentors. A logical development of this model is student accelerators, which transform educational projects into market-ready startups. The main idea of the article is revealed through the analysis of successful collaborations. The example of the global breakthrough in the field of genome editing (CRISPR-Cas9) shows the role of venture capital in transforming a laboratory discovery into a world-class technology. The example of the “Photonics” cluster in Perm demonstrates a model for uniting science, production, and education to create an innovative ecosystem. The conclusion summarizes the need to consolidate the resources of business, science, and education to train a technological elite capable of creating advanced technical solutions and innovative products.
Keywords:collaboration between business and education, personnel training, engineering specialties, innovative development, joint educational programs, technological sovereignty.
