Abstract. The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the problem of forming cognitive activity (CA) in military university cadets under modern conditions. The relevance of the study is determined by the increased requirements for the professional and personal qualities of officer personnel, for whom the ability for independent, proactive, and continuous learning is a key competence. The aim of the work is to identify and scientifically substantiate the pedagogical conditions and factors ensuring the effective development of CA in the specific environment of military education. The methodological basis of the research consists of systemic, personality-activity, and competency-based approaches, supplemented by the theoretical tenets of L.S. Vygotsky’s cultural-historical psychology, A.N. Leontiev’s activity theory, as well as concepts of digital transformation in education. The article details the specifics of the educational process in a military university, where the formation of cognitive activity is inextricably linked with the cultivation of discipline, responsibility, stress resistance, and command qualities. The author identifies and comprehensively substantiates four groups of interrelated pedagogical conditions: creating situations for intellectual and creative development through establishing interdisciplinary connections; employing diverse practice-oriented forms and teaching methods using standard equipment and simulator complexes; active integration of modern digital technologies (VR/AR, simulators, decision support systems) into the educational process; ensuring sustained emotional-volitional involvement and motivational richness of the educational environment. The practical significance of the research is confirmed by specific methodological examples from the experience of teaching the discipline “Fire Training,” which illustrate the implementation of each of the specified conditions. It is concluded that the systematic and purposeful application of the proposed set of conditions fosters deep internal motivation in cadets, develops analytical thinking and the capacity for self-education, ultimately laying a solid foundation for their successful professional activity as officers. The research results can be used to improve teaching methodologies in military universities and to develop next-generation educational programs.
