Abstract. The article discusses the issue of developing interactive competence in future linguists-translators within the context of a rapidly evolving information society. The relevance and scientific significance of this study are in the increasing importance of translation activities on the background of globalized intercultural interaction and enhanced international cooperation, coupled with the dynamic development of information-communication technologies and online platforms, which open up innovative prospects for professional translation and create increased demands on the level of proficiency in professional skills and competencies. The aim of the paper is to clarify the essence and characteristics of interactive competence specifically related to the training of linguists-translators. To achieve this goal, the author conducted an extensive analysis of contemporary approaches to understanding interactive competence, identifying its features and specifics in the professional environment. The author has also formulated an original definition of this term reflecting current realities of the translation process. The novelty of the research lies in proposing a unique concept of interactive competence consisting of communicative, regulatory, and sociocultural components. Theoretically, the study expands the understanding of the professional development of translators, contributing to the development of appropriate educational requirements. Practically, the findings can be applied in both designing curricula and assessing students’ readiness levels. The methodology includes the study of literary sources, the comparison of foreign and domestic experience, the processing of pedagogical practices, and identification of key aspects relevant to the phenomenon under investigation. Conducted research enables to form a comprehensive representation of interactive competence among future linguists-translators, clarify its structure, and suggest an original definition. Scientifically, the value resides in providing a well-founded approach to conceptualizing interactive competence, thus opening up possibilities for creating effective diagnostic tools aimed at evaluating learners’ proficiency in this area.
Keywords: interactive competence, future linguists-translators, competence-based approach, communicative competence, structural components, professional activity.
