Abstract. In modern economic realities and the increasing volume of professional training requirements for specialists, the formation of research competencies among economics students is of particular importance. The integration of the heuristic component into the process of learning a foreign language opens up new opportunities for the development of critical and creative thinking as well as research potential. The purpose of this article is to identify and substantiate the influence of the perception of heuristics on the development of research competencies of economics students in learning a foreign language. Examples of such competencies include the ability to independently set goals, hypothesize, analyze information, and make decisions. The development of students’ research competences should take place in stages, while the individual components of their structure should develop coherently. Such components are value-motivational, cognitive, meaningful, communicative and reflective. Research methods include the analysis and synthesis of scientific literature on the topic, a survey and qualitative methods for evaluating the results. The author identifies six key factors in the perception of heuristics by economics students: emotional attractiveness, structural organization, productivity and effectiveness, authenticity and stability, subjective complexity, value and respect. A direct connection has been established between the positive perception of heuristics and the development of research competencies. The contribution of the heuristic component to the development of research competencies of economics students in the process of learning a foreign language weighs and contributes to the development of multiple research competencies, allowing to combine emotional acceptance with methodological literacy and practical effectiveness. The practical significance of the work lies in the possibility of using the identified perception factors of heuristics as guidelines for the development of students’ research competencies in the process of teaching a foreign language.
Keywords: heuristics, research competences, scientific research, professional language training, students majoring in economics.
