Abstract. The article discusses the problem of the formation of information and communication competence of teachers. This article analyzes the definitions of the concept of “information and communication competence”. The authors describe the features of information and communication competence of teachers. The authors noted that in order to form the information and communication competence of teachers, it is necessary to use a system-activity approach that covers all possible technological areas and digital areas of interaction with students. Special attention is paid to ways to increase the level of information and communication competence of teachers, on which the further success of the educational process directly depends, as well as the formation of students’ independence and self-sufficiency, their adaptation to the modern world filled with digital technologies surrounding them and transformed processes of the digital environment. The article presents the results of a survey of teaching staff, the purpose of which was to study the information and communication competence of teachers, their resilience to the perception of new things in an educational environment undergoing continuous digital transformation throughout the learning process. It has been revealed that most teaching staff use information and communication technologies in the educational process, but experience difficulties related to a lack of knowledge, due to the specificity of some digital innovations, a variety of platforms, tools and gadgets, as well as dissatisfaction with the material and technical base of educational institutions directly involved in the daily educational process. The survey revealed that respondents use information and computer technologies in preparation for classes (including various specialized forums, electronic document platforms, visualization methods and presentation of material), in class (electronic testing, digitized copies of textbooks, online tables, charts and graphs) or for the purpose of self-education (in their free time work time).
