Abstract. This article explores the importance of fostering a healthy lifestyle in schoolchildren through extracurricular activities. This issue is especially relevant because in today’s digital world, where a sedentary lifestyle and information overload predominate, the role of physical exercise is even more significant. It helps relieve pent-up stress, improve sleep, and enhance overall physical health, which directly impacts the ability to concentrate and absorb new information. Regular physical education and sports help children improve their mental, physical, and social health, instilling energy and a positive emotional outlook. Physical activity increases resilience to the various pressures and stresses faced by modern people. Furthermore, physical activity helps shift focus from mental to physical activity, which is especially important for students who spend a lot of time studying at school and doing homework at home. Unlike structured classrooms, where most of the time is spent mastering theoretical knowledge, extracurricular activities allow students to directly experience the benefits of an active lifestyle and learn to care for their bodies and mental well-being through engaging physical and health-improving activities. Sports clubs, arts and crafts clubs, educational games, and work trips are not just ways to keep children occupied in their free time but also platforms for developing value systems where health is perceived as an integral part of a full and happy life.

Keywords: extracurricular activities, physical education and sports, healthy lifestyle, students’ physical health.
