Abstract. One of the current research problems in the modern economy is the analysis of the differentiation of regions by levels of economic development and the identification of the factors that shape them. In addition, the problem of inflation and the identification of its regional heterogeneity are key issues in modern research. Therefore, this article focuses on regional economic development and the level of inflation in different regions. The goal of this study is to investigate the relationship between regional economic development and the level of regional inflation, to typify regions based on these two parameters, and to explore the characteristics of regional economic development differentiation, taking into account the influence of inflation factors. Research methods: analysis, synthesis, statistical grouping, comparison, generalization, correlation analysis, and cluster approach. An analysis of the relationship between the levels of economic development and inflation in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation showed a relatively stable relationship between the indicators over the five-year period under study. An analysis of the relationship between the levels of regional economic development and the rate of inflation in the regions demonstrated the lowest value of the inflation rate compared to the national value of the indicator for regions with the highest positive deviation of the gross regional product per capita from the national average. Most regions with lower levels of economic development have higher rates of inflation. The novelty of the study lies in the formation of a new problem of analyzing inflation as a factor of economic development, taking into account the differentiation of the relationship between these processes in different groups of regions. The results obtained can serve as a basis for subsequent in-depth analysis of key macroeconomic indicators in order to determine the direction of economic policy and improve its effectiveness. The study demonstrated the need to form national and regional policies taking into account sectoral and spatial factors of economic development.
