Abstract. Construction is considered one of the most effective means of developing visual and imaginative thinking of preschoolers in Russian child psychology and preschool pedagogy. In the process of purposeful design training, it is possible to have a corrective effect on the development of visual and imaginative thinking of preschoolers with speech disorders. One of the types of construction is modular origami. The article reflects the results of a study aimed at developing and testing the content and technology of developing visual-imaginative thinking of older preschoolers with speech disorders in the process of constructing in the style of modular origami. The study was conducted with children aged 5-6 years with general speech underdevelopment using methods of pedagogical testing and pedagogical experiment. Conclusions: when organizing the process of children’s construction, taking into account the key aspects of modular origami teaching methods and methods of developing children’s thinking according to the proposed program and technology, preschoolers not only learn to distinguish the external characteristics of objects (shape, size, structure), but also improve the skills of practical analysis and synthesis that form the basis of visual-imaginative thinking. For the effective development of visual-imaginative thinking of older preschool children with speech disorders, it is necessary to gradually structure the process of learning how to design in the style of modular origami, in which the creation of crafts by a child will be carried out at the first stage according to the holistic design of a visual sample based on the establishment of patterns in its construction; at the second – without a visual sample with an independent choice of modules; at the third is according to his own plan, provided a specific topic is based on the operations of practical analysis and synthesis.
Keywords: visual-imaginative thinking, general speech underdevelopment, senior preschool age, construction, modular origami.
