Abstract. Patriotic education of young people in modern conditions is one of the most important tasks of the state policy of the Russian Federation. In the context of rapid socio-cultural transformations, the issues of forming a civic identity, high morality, and readiness to protect one’s homeland become particularly relevant and significant. The successful development of the country and its spiritual security directly depend on how much the younger generation understands its historical responsibility, takes pride in its historical past, and is willing to contribute to the development of its homeland. This article focuses on analyzing the conceptual approaches to patriotic education of young people, taking into account the regional aspect, using the city of Khabarovsk as an example. The article discusses the axiological, cultural, activity-based, competence-based, personality-oriented, system-activity-based, and regional-ethnocultural approaches, their pedagogical significance, and the methodological features of their implementation, taking into account the specifics of the federal component. In today’s conditions, these approaches require flexibility, interdisciplinarity, and the active inclusion of the regional component, which allows modern youth to develop not only a sense of pride in their country but also a sense of personal responsibility for its future. The main focus is on the interaction between educational institutions, museums, youth associations, and public organizations in shaping civic identity, social responsibility, and the spiritual and moral development of young people. The empirical base of the article includes examples of specific initiatives and projects in Khabarovsk, illustrating the integration of theoretical approaches into the practice of patriotic education. The material can be useful for teachers, methodologists, heads of educational and youth organizations, as well as for scientific research in the field of education and civic education.
