Abstract. This article addresses the topical issue of developing intercultural competence among Chinese students studying Russian language and literature through an axiological approach. The authors aim to identify the most effective teaching methods that take into account the national cultural characteristics of both countries. To achieve this goal, a deep comparative analysis of the fundamental values of the Chinese and Russian peoples has been conducted, as well as modern approaches to foreign language teaching have been analyzed. The important role of introducing innovative technologies is noted, such as creating a specialized audiovisual course for Russian as a foreign language and an interactive website for independent study of literary material, as well as web-quest technology stimulating interest and cognitive activity of students in learning Russian as a foreign language and Russian literature. The practical significance of this work lies in the possibility of using its results in educational process, including theoretical and practical courses on methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language, organization of elective modules, and preparation of textbooks and teaching aids. The scientific novelty of this research consists in specific recommendations proposed by the authors for creating and implementing innovations in the educational process aimed at deepening understanding of Russian culture and effectively mastering the Russian language and literature. General scientific methods of cognition are used in the work, as well as descriptive-analytical and comparative methods.
