Abstract. The article examines the applicability of the user experience (UX) concept in pedagogy and education in the context of digitalization and a shift toward student-centered learning. The aim of the study is to provide a conceptual justification for incorporating “user experience” into pedagogical theory and practice. To achieve this aim, the authors conducted an analysis of international standards and literature on UX and usability, a bibliometric review of Russian publications on the topic, and a comparative analysis of the user experience and educational experience concepts. The results substantiate the universality of the UX concept and demonstrate the feasibility of transferring UX methodology to the educational domain. Differences and commonalities between usability and UX in the educational context are identified. Three models for integrating the UX concept with educational experience are proposed, each oriented toward a specific set of tasks in educational research and learning process optimization. Practically, the proposed models can be used in the design and evaluation of digital educational resources and processes aimed at enhancing students’ educational experience. Scientific novelty lies in introducing the UX paradigm into pedagogical discourse and developing integration models that combine technical and pedagogical approaches. It is concluded that user experience is a legitimate and promising concept in pedagogy, provided the boundaries of its appropriate application are observed. Limitations of the UX approach in education (such as the need to avoid reductionism and certain technical and ethical constraints) are identified, and directions for further research are outlined.
Keywords: user experience, UX, usability, educational experience, student-centered learning, digital learning environment, digitalization.
