Abstract. Modern medical education requires a fundamental revision of approaches to teaching chemical disciplines within the framework of implementing a competency-based approach. Existing methods do not provide an adequate level of professional competency formation among future physicians, which is critical for medical practice that depends seventy percent on the use of pharmaceuticals. Objectiveis to develop and implement a methodology for forming natural science competencies in medical students during the study of chemistry, taking into account the regional characteristics of the industrial development of the Samara region. Methodology. The study is based on a systemic analysis of the educational process using a three-component competency structure (cognitive, operational-activity, and personal components). A survey was conducted involving 847 students, interviews with 67 faculty members, and an analysis of academic performance over a five-year period. The experimental study included 287 first-year students from various faculties. A phased methodology was applied, changing the ratio of reproductive to productive activities from seventy-five percent to twenty-five percent, to twenty-five percent to seventy-five percent. Results. The methodology has been implemented across all faculties of Samara State Medical University, including the Faculty of Medicine, Pediatrics, Dentistry, and the Faculty of Medical and Biological Disciplines. It is recommended for medical universities in the Volga Federal District. Novelty. An adaptive model of professionally oriented chemistry education has been developed for the first time, integrating a regional component that includes the study of the impact of industrial pollution on health, analysis of the chemical composition of water in the Volga basin, and research on medicinal plants of the region. A system of personalized educational trajectories for various medical specializations has been created. Conclusions. The high effectiveness of the methodology has been experimentally confirmed with statistically significant improvements in all components: motivation increased by 142%, the cognitive component score rose from 3.2 to 4.6 points, the operational-activity component by 165%, and the reflective component by 198%.
