Abstract. Improving the quality of military education means increasing the combat capability of the Russian army. The current stage in the development of military science and practice is characterized by a qualitative change in the requirements for the level of analytical training of officers, which, in turn, increases the responsibility of a military specialist for information and analytical support of the decision-making process. The relevance of the presented research, therefore, is determined by the need to strengthen the scientific and pedagogical foundations for improving the training of future officers for analytical activities in accordance with modern requirements for officers. The purpose of the article was to determine the role of analytical thinking in the professional activity of a future officer and to identify the self-assessment of cadets by determining the level of analytical thinking. Research methods: analysis of scientific literature and pedagogical experience; survey of 3-4-year cadets of the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School, engaged in engineering training, with experience in participating in tactical exercises. The high importance of analytical thinking in the professional training of military university cadets was determined. An analysis of the respondents’ responses showed that the cadets strive for self-development and are ready to develop analytical thinking. There is a need to increase the number of tactical exercises and the use of case analysis in training, thereby strengthening the practical focus of training. It is determined that independent work plays an important role in the training of future officers, during which everyone determines for himself in which direction he has gaps, and also has the opportunity to independently analyze information. In addition, it is recommended to use trainings, master classes, interest groups, access to specialized databases. The practical value of analytical thinking is demonstrated, and the need to encourage military university cadets to actively participate in discussions, and especially for applying analytical skills in real projects, is revealed.
Keywords: professional training of future officers, cadets, military universities, practical tasks, analytical thinking, and combat experience.
