Abstract. Linguistic and regional studies, as an integral component of foreign language teaching, have long taken their place in professional language training programs. However, the content of linguistic and cultural studies courses varies depending on the specialty of the students and the organizational and pedagogical conditions. The training of international relations specialists involves not only linguistic and everyday life components (i.e. the linguistic picture of the world), but also political-economic and historical-cultural ones, which determine the professional thinking, behavior and specific communication of specialists in the field of international relations. In the last decade, digital technologies have been actively used in teaching linguistic and cultural studies, allowing for the improvement of the learning process. The purpose of this article is to analyze the experience of MGIMO-University in teaching students the course “Great Britain: Culture across History” with the use of digital technologies and to identify students’ attitudes toward this discipline and form of education. The study used an analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature on the topic of the article, the method of participant observation, the method of questionnaires and the analysis of the results of the questionnaires. Analysis of the survey results demonstrated students’ interest in studying linguistic and regional studies material and an understanding of its importance in learning a foreign language. The types of tasks that arouse the greatest interest and the greatest difficulties among students have been identified. The theoretical significance of the study lies in expanding the scope of professional language training for international relations specialists through teaching linguistic and cultural studies using digital technologies. The practical significance lies in the combination of pedagogical technologies that help increase students’ motivation to study the linguistic and cultural aspects.
