Abstract. The rapid pace of technological development, changes occurring in the socio-economic sphere and increasing requirements for professional training of specialists have a significant impact on the educational process. In such conditions, the educational system of secondary vocational education institutions acquires special importance and significance. The educational environment of an educational institution should be aimed not only at the formation of professional competencies, but also at the development of students’ personal qualities, forming their civic position and social responsibility. This article examines modern trends that have emerged in the educational system of secondary vocational education institutions under the influence of socio-cultural, economic, political and technological changes occurring in society. These trends include: the introduction of a cycle of extracurricular activities called “Conversations about Important Things”; the integration of the “Service Learning” educational approach into the professional training of students; individualization of the educational process; the use of modern, innovative methods and technologies. Each of the listed trends is described in detail in relation to students of secondary vocational education. All educational work in institutions of secondary vocational education is carried out in certain directions, which are described in the article. These areas include: professional direction; egosphere direction; cultural studies direction; collective studies direction. The article reveals the importance of a competently exhibited and effectively functioning educational system of secondary vocational education. In the context of constant changes, it is important to continue to improve the educational system of the secondary vocational education institution, taking into account the new challenges of the time, which will allow the graduation to prepare not only a qualified specialist, but also a harmoniously developed individual.
