Abstract. The article examines the experience of volunteer mentoring implemented by the administration and teaching staff of a secondary general education specialised language school, aimed at the practical professional training of students (master’s degree candidates) of the Pedagogical Department of the Institute of History, Philosophy, and Political Science at Ryazan State University named after S. A. Yesenin. The article highlights the specific features of building the educational process and the content of education in an environment close to bilingualism. It also considers the school’s opportunities such as preparation for language Olympiads, state final certification (OGE) and Russian National Exam (EGE) in English, use of digital resources and work with the school’s website, early career guidance, participation in city and regional professional communities, and editing and moderating the school newspaper. The authors analyze the needs of students for such mentoring; the forms and methods of volunteer mentoring by teachers with future educators; and the advantages of this type of interaction for the development of professional competencies and adaptation to the specifics of working in educational institutions specialising in foreign language. The article describes technologies for transferring practical experience through observation, joint activities (projects, master classes), and reflection, which contribute to the formation of a holistic understanding among students of the work of schools of this type. The research results confirm the effectiveness of volunteer mentoring, which promotes increased motivation and professional readiness of future teachers. The importance of expanding the practice of volunteer mentoring as a promising form of collaboration between schools and universities is emphasized, facilitating the professional development of educators within the context of modernizing pedagogical education and enhancing the practical orientation of their learning process.
