Abstract. Modern realities force teachers to look for more effective ways of teaching, including a foreign language, which causes particular difficulties for students due to a number of reasons. The most significant ones include lack of motivation, insufficient school preparation, and a dismissive attitude towards a foreign language as a non-core subject on the part of students. At the same time, we must not forget about the development of independent thinking, reflective abilities and self-assessment skills of modern students. They should receive a large flow of information, including different points of view on the issues under consideration. This encourages students to critically analyze, compare different approaches, generalize and form their own well-founded conclusions and decisions. Nowadays, digitalization is gradually covering the entire educational space and, accordingly, teachers must work in the context of societal demands and technological changes. The task of a foreign language teacher is to activate the cognitive process of students, increase their motivation, and orient them to the importance of a foreign language in their future profession and life in general. Modern methods using information technologies and Internet resources allow for a personality-oriented approach, ensuring individualization and differentiation of learning, taking into account both the abilities and level of training, as well as the interests of each student. A modern student with a broad outlook and a desire for comprehensive development feels the need to expand his or her knowledge of the culture of other countries. Thanks to the use of information technologies, students gain access to the cultural heritage of the country of the language being studied, expanding their horizons and increasing their motivation to learn the language. The relevance of this study lies in the urgent need to improve the efficiency of the educational process in the context of a foreign language, in which information technology can significantly help. The subject of the study is the use of information technology in the process of teaching a foreign language in modern realities. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the high-quality development of recommendations for the use of information and communication technologies in foreign language academic activities. The practical significance of the work lies in the possibility of using the recommendations obtained during the study in teaching a foreign language in the modern educational segment.
