Abstract. In modern realities, an important issue in the context of education is the training of competent and high-quality specialists, professionals in their field, employees who are not afraid to take responsibility and make effective, sometimes non-standard decisions. The formation of such specialists requires a fairly long amount of time, as well as new approaches and methods in the context of teaching, the process of transferring knowledge from teachers to students should be motivated, interesting, effective. Successful academic activity requires new teaching techniques and technologies, as well as general competencies, thanks to which specialists become highly professional personnel. In this regard, the importance of a foreign language is manifested to the highest degree. These are research practices, and a common culture, and level, these are numerous internships and exchange of experience, this is high-tech equipment and gadgets based on the ability to use a foreign, in particular English, language as a tool for development, as well as professional and cultural growth. The relevance of this study lies in the urgent need to change approaches to modern foreign language education, in high-quality adaptation, development and improvement of existing methods of teaching foreign languages, in the development of new effective approaches to the study of foreign languages by students of non-linguistic majors. The subject of the study is the process of studying a foreign language in a non-linguistic university. The object of the study is the existing academic techniques and methods of teaching a foreign language to students of non-linguistic specialties. The novelty of the study lies in an attempt to adapt existing new techniques of foreign language education to the realities of a non-linguistic university in modern realities. The practical significance of the work lies in the development of recommendations and methods for effective teaching a foreign language in the context of a non-linguistic university.
