Abstract. Family values are the fundamental principles and beliefs that guide and define how family members function and interact with society at large. Introducing and reflecting on family values is critical to protect the younger generation from adverse decisions, a tool for teaching discrimination of right and wrong. At the first stage of our research, a review of literary sources was conducted to answer the question of what are the perceptions of family values among younger schoolchildren. A comparative analysis of the main approaches to the formation of these representations was carried out. The contribution to the support of family values concerns not only today’s well-being, but also foreshadows the development of civilized behavior in the future, forming a stable social and moral basis of the individual. But unfortunately, today in Russia there is a growing disharmony of family relations, impoverishment of family values. There is an erosion of traditional cultural values, the negative impact of information culture, so teachers are looking for effective ways to form in younger schoolchildren ideas about family values. In educational institutions the task of cultivating in elementary school pupils the principles aimed at creating moral individuality comes to the forefront. The fundamental aspect of the educational process is the inculcation of cultural values, cultural and aesthetic perception, moral and ethical principles and spirituality in pupils. The solution of these issues presupposes a coordinated approach with the active involvement of not only teachers, but also parents. Integration of family and school efforts in the formation of family values in junior schoolchildren through various forms of extracurricular activities and the creation of a supportive psychological climate contribute to the comprehensive development of the child’s personality and preparation for life in today’s diverse society.

Keywords: family values, junior schoolchildren, moral individuality, extracurricular activities.
