CASE ANALYSIS IN PROFESSIONAL LANGUAGE TRAINING OF FUTURE TEACHERS IN THE CONTEXT OF A CROSS-CULTURAL APPROACH

Abstract. In the context of transformational shifts in modern society, considerable attention is being paid to improving the quality of professional language training for future specialists, which requires the formation of not only language competencies, but also a professional orientation of the individual. Despite the popularity of case technology in vocational education as an active teaching method, it remains insufficiently developed in language training, which determines the relevance of this article. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the cross-cultural orientation of the application of the case analysis method in the professional language training of future specialists. The research methods included theoretical analysis and generalization of the provisions of scientific literature on the research problem; empirical methods were: analysis of the authors’ own experience as teachers of Ryazan State University named after S. A. Yesenin, analysis of the results of students’ activities. The article presents an analysis of a video fragment of an English-language feature film as an example. It is proved that the cases analysed in the process of professional language training have a cross-cultural orientation; contribute to the development of professional thinking and analytical abilities; activate educational and cognitive activities, contribute to improving the quality and volume of knowledge acquired; develop creative personality qualities. Language professional training introduces a person to national values, reveals the meaning of concepts, and promotes the development of a person’s value-semantic sphere. The theoretical significance of the work lies in enriching the theory of vocational education in terms of the use of active learning technologies. The practical value is due to the development of educational situations for discussion in the process of training future teachers of foreign languages and Russian as a foreign language, which ensures the implementation of a cross-cultural approach in language education.
