Abstract. The article discusses the practical issues of diagnosing the level of patriotism among employees of the internal affairs bodies. The author took as the subject of the study the process of determining the level of formation of the motivational component of a sense of patriotism. The object of the study is the peculiarities of the patriotic education of police cadets undergoing training in educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.The main method is the method of interviewing cadets, based on adapted and standardized methods. Methods of additional confirmation of the survey data are also used: pedagogical observation, individual and group conversations and interviewing.The paper describes the features of the manifestation of feelings of patriotism in the motivational sphere, the classification of feelings of patriotism by type, and provides some results of experimental work in the field of patriotic education of cadets. The author highlights the key features of the motivational factor in the patriotic education of law enforcement cadets.The results of the study show that the most effective for patriotic education is the use of media information, purposefully prepared for the formation of a certain type of patriotism. It is necessary to apply innovative and relevant methods of patriotic education in modern conditions of universal digitalization. The conclusions based on the results of the diagnostic study are presented.
