Abstract. The use of digital technologies in the educational process, including higher education, is a prerequisite for its further effective development for the benefit of society and the state. The issues of introducing artificial intelligence technologies into various fields of human activity (including education) are becoming increasingly relevant. In 2023, there was a breakthrough in the field of artificial intelligence, when the first generative language model became freely available. Therefore, there is a need to improve the regulatory framework regarding the interaction of students with artificial intelligence. Because this leads to the thoughtless use of neural networks when performing various kinds of educational tasks, as well as when writing term papers and research papers, and creates a problem for teachers in terms of the lack of clear criteria for evaluating such work. Over the past two years, when reviewing the written papers, responsible university staff have faced the problem of students using generated text when writing their work. The purpose of the article is to describe the problems and prospects of using artificial intelligence technologies in the process of writing final qualifying papers. To study this issue, we conducted a study. The survey showed that more than 50 percent of respondents used artificial intelligence services to prepare their final work. We believe that it is almost impossible to circumvent the use of artificial intelligence technology in the current situation. Students can use artificial intelligence-based tools to select literature on the problem under study, create bibliographic lists, conduct preliminary reviews and identify shortcomings in the work, rather than generate ready-made text fragments. This means that it is necessary at the level of the educational organization to make, first of all, a regulatory decision that will regulate the requirements for the ability to use the generated text and for the process of checking research papers for originality It is necessary to develop pedagogical and technical techniques that will help solve this problem.
Keywords: education, higher professional education, final qualifying work, artificial intelligence, neural network, quality of education, text uniqueness.
