Abstract. In recent decades, there has been a need in educational practice to prepare teachers for new learning and upbringing conditions, which is associated with the introduction of modern pedagogical approaches and technologies. Modern society requires students to develop not only knowledge, but also a value-based attitude towards the environment. An important task of teachers is the organization of students’ independent activities, which contributes to the development of their creative thinking and cognitive interest. The article discusses the methodology of studying agriculture in geography lessons through practical work, which helps to draw students’ attention to the topic of “Agro-industrial complex”. Teachers should focus on the differences between agriculture and industry, as well as the importance of land reclamation and intensification. Students study the geography of the main branches of agriculture, including crop production and animal husbandry, and master the concepts of specialization and intensity of production. Working with maps and tables helps to systematize knowledge and establish links between various aspects of agriculture. It is important that students understand that land reclamation and technical equipment are key factors in the development of agriculture. Geography lessons include studying the conditions of agricultural crops using maps of soil and vegetation zones. The teacher focuses on the importance of the feed base in animal husbandry and its specialization. Students determine the location of industries by studying the relationship between natural conditions and economic factors. The organization of independent practical work in geography lessons contributes not only to the deepening of knowledge, but also to the development of an active life position of schoolchildren.
