Abstract. The article examines the creative legacy of Alexander Vasilyevich Barabanshchikov, the founder of military pedagogy and higher military school pedagogy, whose 100th birthday was celebrated in December 2024. Paradigmatic views are understood to mean views that were or are still considered scientifically sound and shared by the overwhelming majority of military educators. Based on the theoretical analysis of the totality of scientific works and textbooks of the military educator, applied methods of conceptual and comparative analysis, and content analysis, the following paradigmatic views and ideas of A.V. Barabanshchikov were identified and briefly characterized: military pedagogy is an independent branch of pedagogy with its own object and subject; the methodological foundations of Soviet military pedagogy are based on Marxist-Lenin’s methodology; a complex concept that distinguishes military pedagogy from other branches of pedagogy is the military pedagogical process; military didactics is based on interrelated and specific patterns, principles, functions, contradictions of methods and forms of education; the main scientific approaches in the analysis of military pedagogical phenomena are systemic, process and personal-social-activity approaches; in the training of military personnel, taking into account their adult age, the problem-activity concept of training is widely used; a comprehensive characteristic of the personality and activity of an officer – military teacher is his pedagogical culture;  the goals, objectives and content of the study of military pedagogy as an academic discipline in a military university should include an understanding of it as an integral part of military science, its section of military training and upbringing; the methodology and methodology of military pedagogical research should be based on the logic of mandatory experimental work. The article is debatable both based on the results of the generalization of A.V. Barabanshchikov’s paradigmatic views, and in raising the issue of directions, ways and means of their development in modern conditions.
