Abstract. The article is devoted to the historical-pedagogical and social aspects of the professional training of Russian language teachers for universities in China. The relevance of the topic is determined by the increased interest in the Russian language and culture in China, in connection with which it is assumed that the country’s higher educational institutions prepare qualified teachers who are able to provide quality education. The purpose of this study is to analyze the genesis of Russian language teaching in Chinese universities and the specifics of teacher training, as well as to study the social factors that influenced the development of this educational direction. The methodological basis of this work is a comprehensive analysis of Sino-Russian cultural and educational ties, which are considered in historical retrospect. The article also considers such social consequences that have influenced the process of Russian language teacher training: the development of intercultural communications and changes in the educational standard. The authors name the main problems that currently hinder the quality training of highly qualified specialists: these are the lack of programs for each specialty, bringing curricula in line with modern requirements, and the shortage of qualified teachers. The novelty of the study lies in the fact that it systematizes the social and historical factors that influence the process of training Russian language teachers for Chinese higher education institutions. In a nutshell, conclusions are drawn that can be used as a basis for developing more effective approaches and strategies in teacher training, which contributes to improving the quality of Russian language teaching in Chinese universities.
