Abstract. Rehabilitation and habilitation of people with disabilities are of primary importance at the international and national levels of modern states, the goals of which are: compensation for limitations in life activities due to health conditions, ensuring equal opportunities for people with disabilities, and maintaining maximum independence. The article examines the concepts of “social adaptation” and “rehabilitation” both from the positions of Russian and foreign scientists. The problems that arise during the social adaptation and rehabilitation of the disabled and persons with disabilities while they are in social vocational rehabilitation centers are formulated. The purpose of this scientific work is to analyze the activities of the Kursk Social Vocational Rehabilitation Center “Resource” and to offer recommendations on improving the effectiveness of social adaptation and rehabilitation of people with disabilities and people with disabilities studying at the Center. During the analysis of the Center’s activities, nosological groups of diseases of students, the dynamics of graduate employment, the number of social services provided, as well as the main forms of work with people with disabilities and people with disabilities and the dynamics of changes in the condition of students of the Center after adaptation and rehabilitation measures were identified. The difficulties that arise for the Center’s specialists when working with people with disabilities and people with disabilities are indicated and ways to improve the effectiveness of social adaptation and rehabilitation are considered.
