Abstract. The article examines educational platforms, explores their role in the modern educational process through a comparative analysis. The concept of an online educational platform, types, and advantages of use in the educational process are described. It has been established that educational institutions currently face the task of developing educational infrastructure and methods of presenting material, including the introduction and effective use of digital technologies. A description of modern platforms Yaklass, Google class, Universarium, Eduson, Skillspace, Blackboard, Moodle is given, which allow to significantly increase and improve the efficiency of the educational process of both full-time and distance learning. The author examines the technical and didactic capabilities of the platforms, namely access to the platform for teachers and students, storing personal information and creating a profile, the platform’s capabilities for quantitative organization of the educational space, course listeners (schoolchildren, students of higher education institutions or students of additional education programs), channels of interaction between the teacher and listeners and the presence of a mobile application. The testing formats offered by the platform for creating control over course completion, the possibilities of feedback and organizing various forms of work (individual, pair, group), the formats of materials that a teacher can post on the platform were also studied. The author found similarities in the tools, as well as unique tools offered by individual educational online resources. The most used platforms in the domestic educational market are highlighted. The article defines the functions and strategies that need to be integrated into Russian platforms to support and expand the academic load of educational institutions. A conclusion is made about the need to introduce educational platforms into the modern educational process and the need to modernize the system of platforms to create continuity of school-university education and create a single educational space.
