Abstract. The article is devoted to such an important pedagogical aspect in the socialization and professional development of students as future specialists as civil and patriotic education, which the author considers as a sociocultural phenomenon, a priority direction of the state sociocultural policy of Russia, focused on the revival of the ideas of patriotism and citizenship, the formation of a clear civil society among the younger generation. position and high patriotic consciousness. The methodological basis is revealed, the importance of developing the motivation of students in the formation of civic-patriotic feelings, civic position and civic consciousness is shown. The main means of successful implementation of civic-patriotic education of students in the article are socially significant events and projects, effective measures that are developed and implemented on the basis of the North Ossetian State University together with secondary schools in the city of Vladikavkaz. The article analyzes some ideas and approaches of scientists to the designated problem, considers the conditions and modern forms of education of patriotic consciousness and civic identity of students of a modern university, substantiates the importance of forming an active life position among students, presents the conditions for involving students in public life, reveals the role of civil-patriotic education, ethical values and moral guidelines in the civil development of the individual; the main events held at the North Ossetian State University named after K.L. Khetagurov in order to solve the problem of civil and patriotic education of students with the participation of all parts of the educational process; expanding the spiritual and moral potential of the educational process of the university. Particular attention is paid to the creation of a socio-cultural environment and the organization of the implementation of system-activity and personality-oriented approaches in the formation of the necessary qualities among students.
