Abstract. The article is devoted to the substantiation of the pedagogical potential of Russian sacred music in the moral and aesthetic education of the modern younger generation. One of the main directions of moral and aesthetic education is the formation of artistic consciousness, which regulates and directs the creative activity of students. In the modern educational process, programs for teaching schoolchildren in creative compositional thinking acquire the greatest relevance. The creation by pedagogical means of an artistic image of musical space, choreographic movement and rhythm, sign-symbolic literary space, scenario environment, is the content of education in solving moral and aesthetic issues. The artistic image, as a single holistic perception of the world, becomes the basis for the formation of the artistic consciousness of students. The transition to a qualitatively new level of worldview and attitude makes it possible to expand the forms of moral and aesthetic education, to form students’ ability for creative, artistic activity. The process of moral and aesthetic education, in accordance with the spiritual values and moral priorities accepted in society, is aimed at developing young people’s ability to independently solve vital tasks, successfully implement their plans based on their own resources, intellectual potential and artistic and creative activity. The birth of a creative individuality, the structure of artistic consciousness with its unique internal sound, verbal, rhythmic intonation, with its own unique language style, color plasticity is a process that requires long and intense joint efforts of a teacher and a student. In interdisciplinary interaction, an important emphasis in the implementation of such programs is also placed on literature as a supporting form in the sign-figurative display of external and internal processes. In this regard, the author tried to reveal the specifics of the moral and aesthetic education of the younger generation from a pedagogical point of view, relying on the potential of sacred music.
