Abstract. The article is devoted to the problems of formation of positive motivation among junior schoolchildren to a healthy lifestyle as a multifaceted social phenomenon. Today, the high importance of an adequate resolution of the issue related to the increase in the role and importance of physical culture and sports in the formation of a healthy lifestyle is recognized at the state level, and among all, without exception, social groups in our country, including the educational environment of primary school. The authors of the article prove the thesis that the formation of a healthy lifestyle among junior schoolchildren in a general education school is the most important socio-pedagogical task. The solution to the problem of preserving and improving the health of citizens to a large extent depends on how each of them relates to their own health. A healthy lifestyle in the article is considered as a set of behavioral rules and norms tested in practice in the course of human life, determined by the peculiarities of historical development, and selected from the point of view of the time span of a person’s existence, tested in practice. They, in turn, are aimed at achieving the following results: the ability of a person to carry out labor activities as productively as possible, to ensure the rational use of forces and resources, knowledge and practical skills in the course of the implementation of educational and cognitive activities, in the course of socially useful work; a person’s possession of a complex of the most significant knowledge, skills and abilities in the field of restoration and healing of the body after the most intense labor activity and physical effort; on an ongoing basis, a person must deepen and expand his moral convictions and attitudes, effectively implement the process of spiritual development, develop his physical potential; provide self-support and take action to promote health.
