Abstract. The article is devoted to an important socio-pedagogical problem related to the issues of criminal behavior of minors within the framework of penitentiary pedagogy. The urgency of this problem is justified, first of all, by the fact that researchers in various fields are concerned about the growth of crime among adolescents today: teachers, social workers, psychologists, lawyers, sociologists, etc., that is, at present, one of the most pressing social problems in the world it is precisely the growth in the number of minors who are on the preventive record for various grave crimes and who admit deviant behavior. The problem is also that the personal qualities of convicted juveniles are largely determined by the psychophysiological characteristics of adolescence, which is characterized by enhanced physical development of the body, energy, active initiative activity of the adolescent’s personality, rapid puberty, etc. An increase in excitability, imbalance, a significant predominance of excitement over inhibition processes are also considered to be the reasons for the manifestation of asocial behavior. The article proves the thesis that adolescent convicts are very sensitive to external influences, both positive and negative, disapproving in society. Emotionality, sensitivity and easy vulnerability are those internal factors that contribute to the development of the foundations of the world outlook, individual qualities, priorities and personality orientations. An unreasonably positive attitude towards one’s human nature, a biased assessment of one’s actions and deeds lead to the moral inconsistency of adolescent offenders, which lowers the effectiveness of socio-pedagogical and penitentiary activities in regulating behavior and prevents the development of socially useful attitudes.
