Abstract. Language training is gradually becoming an integral part of modern domestic professional education. Let us recall that the system of teaching a foreign language has come a long way and today its key idea is an organic combination of linguistic knowledge, communication skills and practical use of a foreign language. From a linguistic point of view, the use of new methods will expand the horizons of not only students, but also teachers, giving them a chance to work with colleagues who teach their native language in closer contact. The components of the professional language training of an international specialist include: the formation of professionally significant competencies, language professionalization, including early professionalization, preparation for intercultural communication and the use of innovative pedagogical technologies. The author comes to the conclusion that, in general, the process of teaching foreign languages in a non-linguistic university can be presented as a complex pedagogical system based on interrelated structural components – target, content, functional, organizational, evaluative, allocated in accordance with scientific approaches in education, accepted as general pedagogical foundations. As for the strategy for the development of vocational education, the system should have a direction of social and pedagogical conditioning of the educational process; personal developmental orientation of pedagogical communication; openness of the educational environment of the university, etc. The system of teaching a foreign language, like the language in which it expresses itself, is in constant development, and the only way to keep up with the times is to constantly be open to any kind of changes taking place in society.
