Abstract. The article examines the main aspects of the production of competitive products in the penal system. The article considers the activities of auxiliary farms of correctional institutions in the framework of self-sufficiency with food for convicts, suspects and accused. The expediency of expanding the production of agricultural products in the penal system is revealed. The role of mechanization and automation of processes in the framework of the efficiency of animal husbandry is determined. The study of one of the most efficient and cost – effective branches of agriculture in the food industry-poultry farming. The advantages of the poultry industry over other industries are noted. Territorial-construction, production-technological, organizational-economic and other factors influencing the formation and well-coordinated functioning of the poultry industry are identified. The state of the level of mechanization of animal husbandry in the penal system is analyzed. The types of technical means, such as mowers, mowers-flatteners, mowers-grinders, rakes, balers, forage harvesters, used for the preparation of feed in animal husbandry and allowing to minimize the loss of nutrients, while reducing labor and money costs, are determined. The types of feed dispensers and individual and group drinkers used to reduce labor costs, access of animals to food and water are considered. The methods of manure removal are defined – mechanical (scraper conveyors, rope-scraper installations and suspended roads), hydraulic (pressure and gravity), pneumatic methods, as well as a system of slotted floors. The factors that do not allow the full use of the opportunities available in the livestock industry of the penal system are identified. In addition, the practical orientation of the presented material will allow the use of mechanical and automatic processes in the activities of the rear services of state-owned organizations and institutions of the penal system.
Keywords: animal husbandry, mechanization, automation, poultry farming penal system.
