Abstract. The article is devoted to the disclosure of the essence and content of the pedagogical skills of a social teacher and ways to improve it. The study was built on the basis of personality-activity, competency and system approaches. An understanding of the terms “mastery”, “professional mastery”, “pedagogical mastery”, and “the foundations of pedagogical mastery” is revealed. Highlighted and characterized the qualitative characteristics of the pedagogical skills of the social teacher: the level of professional preparedness, as well as the development of personality traits for professional purposes. The components of the teacher’s professional preparedness are revealed: pedagogical orientation, theoretical, technological and methodological preparedness, as well as the development of pedagogical equipment. The internal and external professionally important qualities of a social educator are characterized. Considering that the art of a social teacher is realized mainly due to the development of his pedagogical abilities, the most important pedagogical abilities, such as Gnostic, design, constructive, organizational, communicative, emotional, socially perceptive, creative, as well as reflection – the ability to see oneself through the eyes, are highlighted and characterized. another man. The concepts of “master” and “talent” in relation to the teacher are characterized. The most important ways of enhancing the pedagogical skills of a social educator, including the leading role in this of himself in the system of working on himself, are highlighted and disclosed.
