Abstract. The article reveals the nature and mechanisms of the influence of the digital economy on the development of the transport industry in the world. The relevance of research on digitalization in the transport sector is determined by several factors. Firstly, it is in the transport sector that the use of digital technologies is especially evident: this facilitates an understanding of the nature of the digitalization process. Secondly, it is the efficiency of using the latest technological achievements that determines the competitiveness of transport companies, and in this context, the study of the impact of digital technologies on production processes in this area is of the greatest practical interest. The aim of the study of this topic is to identify the most significant manifestations of the impact of digitalization on the transport sector, trends and the nature of such an impact. The authors of the study made an attempt to generalize the existing views on the specifics of such an influence, its orientation. They identified the key components of the process of digitalization of the economy, and identified those that have the greatest impact on the transport sector. The article contains an analysis of the existing experience of transport digitalization, the consequences of this process. Also in this material, the authors proposed their forecast for the further development of transport digitalization processes. Also, an analysis of the literature on the problem of digitalization in the field of transport was carried out and identified key problems that are still untied. Among these problems are: a lack of understanding of how large-scale economic changes will be in the future, and how much digital technology will change the face of the economy as such. In addition, in the scientific community there is still no consensus on what exactly should be understood as digitalization as such. The authors of the article note that digitalization in the transport sector has several important features: in this area it occurs somewhat differently than in other sectors of the economy. Thus, digitalization in the transport sector is extremely uneven, and it was in this area that digital technologies began to penetrate earlier. Moreover: it is in this area that digitalization can lead to the complete automation of all technological processes. As a result of the study, the authors found that the objective need of the transport industry for new innovative developments is very high. The economic effect that the introduction of digital technologies in the transport sector brings is obvious and tangible. Savings are achieved by reducing inappropriate costs, increasing control and manageability of the system. At the moment, a great deal of experience has been accumulated in the world practice in introducing digital technologies in transport: the introduction of remote control, comprehensive automation, the introduction of integrated technologies, as well as intelligent control systems.
