Abstract. The article is devoted to the description of the pedagogical model of formation of research competence of military Institute cadets developed by the author. The model is based on the principle of interdisciplinarity and synchronicity of educational and extracurricular scientific activities. The main components of the pedagogical process of the model are described, which include the target, content, operational-activity and control-evaluation component. A special feature of the extracurricular component of the model is the military scientific society of cadets, whose content includes a special course and forms of training that activate the development of research competence. Competence-based, system-based, and activity-based approaches are identified as the main approaches in forming the model structure. The main functions of the components of the pedagogical process of the model and their connections that form an integral logical system aimed at achieving the set pedagogical goal are outlined.

Keywords: research competence, components of the pedagogical process of the model, competence approach, military scientific society of cadets, components of research competence.
