Abstract. The article is devoted to the issues of the revival of the sports-mass physical culture and health-improving complex “Ready for Labor and Defense”; the problems of studying the main directions of the formation of a conscious need for physical exercises in the young generation in the context of a rapid transformation of the moral and value priorities of the individual; value attitude to a healthy lifestyle; preparation of students – future specialists for successful labor activity on the basis of accumulation, preservation and rational use of health potential. In addition to preserving and strengthening people’s health, the development of mass sports as a vital, providing a stable demographic effect, the physical culture complex of the TRP creates conditions for the activation and manifestation of physical culture and sports abilities and individual achievements of citizens, the satisfaction of their moral and spiritual interests and needs in the field of physical culture and sports. In the article, the author proves the thesis that the main goal of the implementation of the mass sports complex of the TRP is the collective health improvement of all citizens, the improvement of their physical form, mental qualities, physiological and somatic state. The basic principles and provisions considered in the article are based on official regulations and decrees of the President of the Russian Federation. Analysis of the existing approaches to the study of the features of the physical culture and health complex showed that the current TRP complex has largely retained the mechanisms and conditions for the implementation of those standards that functioned in the Soviet version of the program. The article for those who wish is given step-by-step instructions on how to register on the TRP website. The previous name of this sports complex was retained on the recommendation of V. Putin, calling it a tribute to the tradition of Russian sports.
