Abstract. The article presents the results of a theoretical and empirical study aimed at identifying barriers to building an inclusive space in modern society. It is noted that the transformation of society’s consciousness towards a positive perception of children with autism spectrum disorders and their families, the education of autistic children in an educational organization is extremely slow. Autism in the society is marked as an epidemic, needs treatment, poses a threat to the family. The problems of a family with an autistic child are identified, associated with the difficulties of integrating children with autism spectrum disorders into the educational and social environment of modern society. It is noted that a family with an autistic child experiences constant difficulties and limitations, often lacking social and moral support from loved ones and acquaintances. Negative trends in the perception of autism, a child with autism spectrum disorders and a family raising a special child are highlighted. Stereotypical views on children with autism spectrum disorders are highlighted: bad manners, uncontrolled behavior, etc. The role of the media in shaping a negative image of a child – autism and his family is examined, in particular, it is noted that the media portrays autism as a negative disaster. Negative myths about the inability of the full functioning of such a family are considered, which are one of the determinants of the formation of stereotypes of perception of autism and stigmatization of children and family. Recommendations are given, the main of which are the use of strategies in the field of creating a positive attitude of society towards children with autism spectrum disorders and their families, such as the formation of an inclusive culture in society and the implementation of inclusive practice, etc.
