 Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of the Chinese initiative for the construction of the “New Silk Road”. The purpose of the article is to emphasize the strategic directions of development of relations between the countries of Europe and Central Asia in the framework of pairing the “New Silk Road” and the Eurasian economic Union. The article proves the need for special integration processes in the implementation of the main and additional projects of the “New Silk Road” and identifies prospects for the unity of the geographical and economic spaces of Russia and China. The authors come to the conclusion that the joint statement of Russia and China on the pairing of the Eurasian economic Union and the “New Silk Road”, signed in 2015, removes the question of competition in all forms of cooperation of the participating countries of this project. It is proved that the countries of New Silk Road project will have special prospects for their further development due to the financing of additional projects planned in their territories. The article analyzes the structure of the transport component of the “economic belt of the silk road”.
