Abstract. The article discusses issues related to an important problem – the definition and scientific justification of the foundations of citizenship and patriotism in the history of our Fatherland. The authors confidently stand on the position which is expressed in the fact that patriotism is the sociogenetic quality of the Russian (Russian) person, which determines not only the well-being of every citizen of the country, but also as a whole – of the whole of Russian society, the fate of the state. Its foundations lie in the history of the birth and formation of the Russian (Russian) people, their great culture, which has many millennia. The construction of a system of educating civic-patriotic feelings among the younger generation of our country will be successful only if it is based on basic foundations, which include: historical meanings and values of Russian (Russian) culture; historical experience in the life of the Russian (Russian) people; social history of the Russian (Russian) state, society, people.
