Abstract. This article provides guidelines for analyzing maps of folk crafts. The role and importance of practical work in the formation of special skills among schoolchildren in geography lessons is emphasized. It also contains excerpts from students’ work on the analysis of maps of trades of the Vladimir region of the XIX and XX centuries and a modern map of the Nizhny Novgorod region of the Russian Federation. In addition, the article includes the author’s map of folk crafts on the fabric basis of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The map makes it possible to track the prevalence and forms: hand-painted fabrics, hand-made carpet weaving, embroidery products, hand-made knitting, products made of felt, making yurts, artistic processing of leather and fur, making woven shawls, patchwork, making dolls in national costumes. The article also notes that the mapping of cultural creativity of peoples is one of the newest trends in cartography, and the ability to analyze the maps of folk crafts allows you to study the history and geography of the culture of your region.
