Abstract. This study is devoted to the analysis of the development of mass open online courses and the study of their pedagogical foundations. The paper discusses the principles of course design and the basic platforms that most successfully implement the MOOC. Also, there was considered an analysis of the problems and limitations of courses faced by the teacher.
